Our district is temporarily moving to eLearning tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 21, because of the extreme cold expected during arrival time that the National Weather Service strongly suggests our community avoid for safety reasons.

Staff members at the Osseo Area Learning Center (OALC) and 279Online have recently taken an active approach to championing recycling efforts, earning them a free park bench to be placed on site at the OALC.

Osseo Area Schools’ Preschool and Prekindergarten Programs for the 2025-26 school year open for registration in January 2025. Programs are for children who will be three or four years-old on or before Sept. 1, 2025. Each program is designed to foster curiosity and creativity while supporting the growth of every scholar during their education journey. Visit district279.org/preschool-prek for details.

Throughout the months of December and January, various musical concerts will be held at schools across the district. Here's a list of upcoming performances.

After further review, the school-based health center mentioned as part of Crest View’s repurposing is going to be placed at Park Center Senior High School instead. There are a variety of reasons for this change, including easier access for more scholars and their families and a more district-centralized location.

Community Education’s Early Childhood & Family Education catalog was recently mailed to community members in Osseo Area Schools.

On Oct. 10-11, five students from Osseo Area Learning Center (OALC) attended a fall leadership conference hosted by the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs (MAAP) STARS program. At the conference, the OALC student leaders connected with other alternative school students, made new friends and represented their school proudly. The team had the unique chance to explore a camp, witness the northern lights and participate in valuable leadership training.

Community Education’s Kidstop and Four Star Express students, staff and families gathered on Oct. 23 and 24 to celebrate the 25th Annual Lights On Afterschool, a nationally recognized annual event that showcases the many ways after school programs support students and families.

On Oct. 15, Community Education’s Early Childhood & Family Education (EC&FE) staff hosted a free Family Fun Night at Arbor View Early Childhood Center and Willow Lane Early Childhood Center.
