Opportunities to get involved

MAAP STARS

Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs (MAAP) hosts 16 competitive and non-competitive team and individual events that prepare students for the workplace. The purpose of this program is to help scholars:

  • Develop employment, academic and social skills
  • Experience career related activities that assist them in making an informed career choice
  • Build a cooperative and competitive spirit through individual and team activities and competition
  • Strengthen social skills and build an appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship, brotherhood and the American free enterprise system
  • Develop self-confidence, increase motivation and create a desire for and belief in lifelong learning
  • Meet, have fun with, and develop an appreciation for students and staff from other alternative programs

Student Leadership Team

Osseo Area Learning Center's Student Leadership Team plans events such as fundraisers, school festivities, graduation ceremonies and volunteer/service projects. This group meets monthly in Kris Johnson's room during lunch and is open to anyone who would like to participate. Please connect with one of the group's advisors (Kris Johnson, Krista Frechette or Cory Geirhart) to learn more.

Comprehensive high school activities

From robotics to creative writing, Osseo Area Learning Center students can also participate in high school-sponsored activities. Please contact your home school for information about schoolwide activities and how to get involved.
